North Yarmouth Academy
Benchmark was awarded two buildings in a Design|Build construction competition for a new Middle School and Science Building for North Yarmouth Academy in Yarmouth, Maine.
Benchmark working collectively with Scott Simons Architects completed the new 12,950 square foot Pricilla Savage Middle School. An intense demolition of the existing building, constructed in the early 1970′s, included completed removal of three of the exterior walls, part of the roof structure, and the interior in its entirety.
Successful planning along with a positive and constructive Design|Build Team was crucial in completing the project within an accelerated construction schedule. The project broke ground in April 2003 and was open for school in September 2003.
Science Center
The second phase of construction, a 15,000sf NYA Science Center. The state of the art facility includes a 2-story greenhouse, seven 1,000sf lab classrooms, a computer lab, meeting room, and faculty offices. Completion of the Science Building and adjacent quadrangle, completed the open college feel for the campus by creating a centrally located gathering area.
This phase of construction was completed in December of 2005.
