Iris Park Apartments – Portland, Maine

The Iris Park Apartment complex is a specially equipped group of one and two bedroom apartments for the blind and visually impaired. The thirty-one units share a central kitchen and dining area, fitness and recreation rooms, interior dog wash area, and exterior courtyard and gardens.

Interior renovations were extensive in the existing main building. The new three-story building is steel framed, with brick and ground faced block masonry.

Hired by the Iris Network at the 50% design stage, Benchmark implemented true value engineering and alternative construction methods, resulting in cost savings of over $500,000 on this $4.3 million project, without any change in the project program.
