Maine College of Art- Oakleaf Inn

Benchmark was chosen as Construction Manager in 2005 for the redevelopment of the historical Hotel Everett locatd on Free Street in Portland. Owner, Northland Enterprises and CWS Architects rounded out the project team tasked with transforming its current use as a boarding home to a dormitory facility for Maine College of Art students.
The project budget was challenged by the age of the building and its’ federal designation as a National Historic Place. During the design phase, Benchmark’s project team met with a pre-qualified group of subcontractors to develop systems and construction practices that would offset the cost burden of compliance with the National Park Service.
This project is featured on the Maine Historic Preservation Commission website as a Certified Rehabilitation Project. Click here to read more!
